2. DATA ELEMENT DEFINITION:

Descriptors extracted from DeCS/MeSH to synthesize and represent the main thematic content, the focal point of the document.

3. NOTES:

a) For selecting descriptors in DeCS/MeSH, the Indexing Manual guidelines should be followed.

b) Necessary descriptors should be used to represent the thematic content of the document, respecting the maximum limit of six.

c) The most suitable qualifier available in the descriptor should be selected according to the document’s content.

d) It is recommended to adopt one or at most two qualifiers for the same descriptor used as primary.
