2. DEFINITION OF DATA ELEMENT:

Descriptors extracted from DeCS/MeSH to represent complementary thematic content and to specify or complement a primary descriptor or discussion of the theme.

3. NOTES:

a) For the selection of descriptors in DeCS/MeSH, the guidelines of the Indexing Manual should be followed;

b) All descriptors necessary for describing the thematic content of the document should be recorded; The most appropriate qualifier available in the descriptor is selected according to the content of the document;

c) It is recommended to adopt a maximum of three qualifiers for the same descriptor considering those already used as primary.
