10 – Individual Author (analytic level)

 

1. FIELD DESCRIPTION:

Variable size

Essential and repetitive filling

 

2. DATA ELEMENT DEFINITION:

Name of the individual responsible for the intellectual content of a document. In the LILACS Methodology, authorship is defined according to the recommendation of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors – ICMJE.

 

3. NOTES:

a) Register the name of the responsible individual starting with the last name, followed by a comma, a space, and the first name, preferably in full form. Some basic rules for filling out personal authorship based on AACR2 are found in Annex I.

b) If there is more than one responsible individual, their names should be registered in the sequence given in the document.

c) Registering documents without authorship is not recommended.

d) If there is both a personal author and an institutional author, register all authors.

 

Affiliation

Filling out the affiliation subfield is mandatory only for serial analytics, but if filled out for other types of documents (Books and Non-conventional Documents), the same rules must be followed:

a) Use the institution to which the author belongs and not the institution where the work was carried out, if both are mentioned.

b) Register the institution and its hierarchical levels in attributes 1:, 2:, and 3:. From the third hierarchical level onwards, separate them with a period and a space.

c) Country is registered in attribute p: and City in attribute c:, with the following guidelines for filling:

1: is mandatory

    • 2: and 3: are optional
    • p: is essential, provided that attribute 1: is not s.af
    • If attribute 1: is filled with an affiliation, this field becomes mandatory. If not possible to identify, select the probable country.
    • c: is essential

d) If affiliation information is not available, use the abbreviation 1: s.af (without affiliation).

e) When the author belongs to more than one institution, include the first institution, or preferably the one located in Latin America.

f) When there are 2 or more authors without being able to correctly identify the institution they belong to, put in all authors 1: s.af.

 

Degree of Responsibility

a) Indicate the degree of responsibility when it is not the author’s

b) Select in attribute r:, Affiliation – degree of responsibility the contribution(s) as presented in the document.

For special materials, the list of degrees of responsibility can be expanded using the abbreviations used by the Library of Congress, which are found in Annex VIII.

c) Only one degree of responsibility is registered for each author.
