2. DATA ELEMENT DEFINITION:
Name of the person responsible for the intellectual content of a document. In the LILACS Methodology, authorship is defined according to the recommendation of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors – ICMJE.
3. NOTES:
a) Record the name of the responsible person starting with the last name, followed by a comma, a space, and the first name, preferably in full. Some basic rules for filling in the personal author based on AACR2 are found in ANNEX I;
b) If there is more than one responsible person, their names should be recorded in the sequence given in the document, by clicking on Add personal author;
c) Filling in one of the data fields, Personal author or Institutional author, is mandatory.
d) If there is a personal author and an institutional author, record all authors.
e) It is not recommended to register documents without authorship. As an exception, when authorship is not listed in the document, select the option Unknown authorship.
Affiliation
a) Filling in the affiliation of the Personal Author is mandatory for serial article and optional for books and unconventional documents. In the case of theses and dissertations, the affiliation should not be filled in because this data is described in Thesis Notes;
b) Adopt the institution to which the author is affiliated, not the institution where the work was carried out, if both are mentioned;
c) Record the Institution and its hierarchical levels in the attributes Affiliation – Institution level 1:, Affiliation – Institution level 2: and Affiliation – Institution level 3:. From the third hierarchical level onwards, separate them with a period and space; City in the attribute Affiliation – city and the Country is recorded in the attribute Affiliation – Country, with the following filling:
Affiliation – Institution level 1: is mandatory
Affiliation – Institution level 2: and 3: are optional
Affiliation – city: is essential
Affiliation – Country: is essential, provided that the attribute Affiliation – Institution level 1 is not s.af (no affiliation). If Affiliation – Institution level 1 is filled, this field becomes mandatory. If it is not possible to identify the country, use the abbreviation s.p (no country)
a) When the author belongs to more than one institution, enter the first institution, or preferably the one located in Latin America;
b) When there are 2 or more authors, and only one institutional indication, assume the same institution for all;
c) When there are 2 or more authors, without being able to correctly identify the institution they belong to, fill in with s.af.
Affiliation – Degree of responsibility
To select the roles of the authors, use the degree of responsibility of the LILACS Methodology (editor, compiler, coordinator, and organizer) and the CRediT taxonomy (ANNEX VIII);
