30 Title (serial level)

 

1. DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA FIELD:

2. DATA ELEMENT DEFINITION:

Title of a serial publication (journal, monographic series, newspaper, yearbook, etc.) in the language as it appears in the publication and titles in other languages in the case of multilingual publications.

 

3. NOTES

Periodical series:

a) Select the title available in the established list;

b) For titles not listed in the list, use the abbreviated form, according to the International ISSN Center. If access is not available, contact BIREME;

c) The abbreviated title should be recorded without the final period.

 

Monographic series:

a) Record the title in full form, respecting the spelling rules of the language, transcribing in uppercase the first letter of each significant word;

b) If the title includes the name of the institution responsible for its publication, the entry should be made as it appears in the document;

c) If the title does not include the name of the institution responsible for the document, it should precede the title, preferably in acronym form and in the language of the text;

d) Entry of the series name through the word “series” should be avoided;

e) If there are more than one title, record them in the sequence given in the document, separated by a period “.”.
