Reaching the milestone of half a million documents indexed in 2009 strengthens LILACS as a bibliographic reference index of scientific and technical health output in Latin America and the Caribbean. LILACS operates in the VHL network, with the participation of more than 800 cooperating institutions from 39 countries.
