What is the LILACS database?
25 de April de 2024The LILACS database, which stands for Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, is a specialized bibliographic index containing scientific and technical production in Health Sciences published by institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
It is a freely accessible database, without the need for subscription, coordinated by BIREME/PAHO/WHO and maintained by a network of national and thematic coordinators, journal editors, and cooperating centers that make up the LILACS Network.
It contains over one million documents from 30 countries, with approximately 70% having links to full texts. The accepted document types include:
- Books and book chapters;
- Papers published in conference proceedings;
- Technical and scientific reports;
- Government documentation;
- Doctoral theses or higher degrees from all areas of Health Sciences;
- Master’s theses in Public Health and Nursing;
- Journal articles indexed in LILACS;
- and other documents that comply with the Document Selection Guide for the LILACS Database.
