Profile of journals indexed in LILACS 2024 (in Spanish)
This data visualization represents the "Profile of Journals Indexed in LILACS," a longitudinal and prospective study initiated in October 2021, with annual data collection.
For the third year of the series, out of 904 journals indexed in LILACS (as of sept. 5th - oct. 3rd /2024), 252 responses were obtained from 19 countries.
The data is organized into the following focus areas:
- Characterization: presents general data about the journals, including information on thematic areas, types and number of documents published, country and city of publication, bibliographic standard adopted, and periodicity;
- Editorial Policies: describes key aspects of the editorial process of the journals, including the management system used, the type of peer review adopted, the publication formats of the documents, participation in the LILACS Express initiative, and the existence of processing fee charges, detailing the stages where these charges occur;
- Language and Dissemination: explores the languages accepted for manuscript submission and publication, as well as information on the translation provided by the journal and the languages into which it is carried out. It also addresses the dissemination channels used, social networks, and the use of persistent identifiers;
- Access and Usage Rights: presents information about the type of access to published content, licenses adopted, intellectual property rights, and authorization to store content in digital repositories. It also includes details about the support and typology of the current ISSN;
- Ethical Guidelines: analyzes ethical aspects of the editorial process, such as the use of plagiarism detection systems, policies for the use of artificial intelligence in manuscript writing, ethical guidelines, retractions, and scientific conduct;
- Open Science: addresses Open Science practices, including whether or not research data deposits are required, transparency in the peer review process, promotion of DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) principles, acceptance of manuscripts previously deposited as preprints, and the requirement for statements on conflicts of interest and sources of research funding;
- Indexing: provides information about the indexing ecosystem of the journals in various databases and information services. It presents a categorization of the databases and a timeline with data on the start of publication, indexing in LILACS, and availability in digital format;
- Editorial and Institutional Structure: includes information about the editorial team of the journals (editors, committee, and editorial team), funding sources, and the organizational nature of the institutions responsible for the publication;
- Respondent Profile: presents data on the questionnaire respondents, such as position held, gender, race or ethnicity, average age, and educational level.
