The limits for the thematic coverage of LILACS are not rigid and include related areas such as Sanitary Engineering, Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Veterinary Science, Biology, and multidisciplinary journals. Documents of interest and impact on human health should also be considered. In such cases, if the journal presents a minimum of 50% of articles related to health, per issue, it will be analyzed selectively and not in its entirety.

Journals should be intended for academics, researchers, health professionals, authorities, and public health managers.
