In digital media, articles are treated as individual digital objects. Therefore, each of them must contain a minimum set of metadata for identification and identity of the journal:
- Bibliographic caption (abbreviated title, ISSN, year, volume, [number], e-location [paging], URL);
- Identification of the type of article;
- Include electronic location identifier (e-location) in articles. In such cases, do not use traditional paging;
- DOI (Digital Object Identifier) registration: THE DOI must always be published along with the article in any medium, whether in PDF, HTML, or descriptive metadata of the article; it is recommended to include the DOI in tables and charts.
- Adopt methodology and technology that ensures digital preservation, for example, LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe).
- Maintain access links to the journal’s website and active articles.
